PNW Fall Prep | Agency Happenings | Deer Season Driving Tips | Kitsap County Pumpkin Patch Guide | Recipe of the Month
Hi friends!
October is one of our favorite months. Cozy sweaters, pumpkin spice everything, and the best excuse to light a candle at 5pm because it’s already dark outside. But it’s also the season for unexpected “surprises”: wet leaves, slick roads, deer on the move, and storm prep for your home. This month’s newsletter has a little bit of everything: coverage tips, local love, and a recipe you’ll actually want to try.
Grab your coffee (pumpkin spice optional) and let’s dive in.

Coverage Tip: Deer Season Driving
If you’ve lived in Kitsap long enough, you know that fall is deer season on the roads. The days get shorter, the fog rolls in, and suddenly those early morning and evening commutes get a little riskier. What most people don’t realize is that deer-related collisions aren’t covered under “collision” at all — they fall under your comprehensive coverage. And here’s another fun fact: deer almost never travel alone. If you see one bound across the road, it’s a safe bet another is right behind.
Now’s the time to make sure you’ve got the right coverage in place before Bambi meets your bumper. If you’re not sure, let us take a quick look. It’s much easier to check a policy than to check into a body shop.
Seasonal Homeowner Checklist
There’s nothing cozier than being inside on a stormy October evening — unless you suddenly discover water pouring in through your ceiling. Fall is the perfect time to give your home a little attention before the Pacific Northwest weather really kicks in. Cleaning out your gutters, checking your roof for loose shingles, and making sure your chimney is safe before that first fire can save you from a whole lot of trouble later.
And while you’re ticking off your fall prep list, it’s smart to review your homeowner’s policy too. Storm damage, tree branches, and leaks don’t wait until you’re ready. A quick review now can mean peace of mind all season long.
Coverage Spotlight: Umbrella Insurance
Umbrella insurance has one of those names that makes it sound like an extra luxury, but the truth is it’s one of the most practical coverages out there. Think of it as a safety net that kicks in when your standard auto or homeowners policy reaches its limits. Picture a major car accident, a lawsuit, or someone taking a bad fall on your property, situations where costs can skyrocket quickly.
An umbrella policy steps in to cover what your base policy can’t, and here’s the kicker: it usually costs less per month than your favorite coffee order. For something that can protect your home, savings, and future, that’s not just smart - it’s a steal.
